Educational Qualification and other details: 

Gujarat Institute of Development Research (GIDR) is an autonomous social science research institute (visit website www.gidr.ac.in for details). It is partially supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi and the Government of Gujarat.

 

Eligibility: Candidates should have a good academic background, a PhD in Economics, Development Studies, or in any social science, and proven research ability. Publications/papers as per the UGC norms are essential. The applicant must have a minimum of five years of experience as a Professor with considerable research and administrative experience, capable of providing academic leadership, and the ability to raise funds for research. The applicant should not be more than 60 years of age at the time of application.

 

Job Profile: The Director of GIDR will be the academic and administrative head of the Institution. She/he will administer the Institute under the guidance of the Governing Body of the Institute.

 

Term of Appointment: The Director will hold the office for a term of five years. The President, in consultation with the Governing Body, may extend the appointment of the Director for one more term. The age of retirement for the Director is 65 years.

 

Pay Scale: Rs.37400-67000 + AGP Rs. 10,000/- plus admissible allowances.

 

Selection Process: The Search-cum-Selection Committee constituted by the President of the Institute will consider the applications fulfilling the above criteria, received in response to the advertisement as well as nominations (with full bio-data) received from eminent scholars. Please note the Search-cum-Selection Committee reserves the right to invite eminent persons other than those who have applied or have been nominated. It also reserves the right to reject any application without assigning any reason thereof. Offline or online personal interviews will be held with the shortlisted candidates.

 

Interested individuals may apply with full bio-data clearly mentioning the research projects undertaken and completed, research and other scholarly publications with proper citation, administrative experience, and teaching experience, if any.
