The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2025 Examination. This exam is a gateway for candidates aspiring for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or Lectureship/Assistant Professor in Indian universities and research institutions.

If you are planning to appear for the CSIR-UGC NET this year, here’s everything you need to know.

 

📌 Important Dates at a Glance

  • Online Registration: 25 September 2025 to 24 October 2025 (till 11:50 PM)
  • Last Date for Fee Payment: 25 October 2025 (till 11:50 PM)
  • Correction Window: 27 October 2025 to 29 October 2025
  • Exam Date: 18 December 2025 (Two Shifts: 9 AM – 12 Noon & 3 PM – 6 PM)
  • Admit Card Release: To be announced on the NTA website
  • Result Declaration: Will be announced later

📚 Eligibility Criteria

  1. Educational Qualification
    • Master’s Degree with 55% marks (General/EWS).
    • 50% marks for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates.
    • Final-year Master’s students can also apply provisionally.
    • Candidates with a 4-year bachelor’s degree (75% marks) are eligible for JRF/Ph.D. admission, but not for Assistant Professor.
  2. Age Limit
    • JRF: Maximum 30 years as on 1 December 2025 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Women).
    • Assistant Professor/Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.

 

📝 Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Type: Objective, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Medium: English & Hindi

Subject Codes & Structure:

  • Chemical Sciences (701) – 120 Questions (Max: 200 Marks)
  • Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean & Planetary Sciences (702) – 150 Questions (Max: 200 Marks)
  • Life Sciences (703) – 145 Questions (Max: 200 Marks)
  • Mathematical Sciences (704) – 120 Questions (Max: 200 Marks)
  • Physical Sciences (705) – 75 Questions (Max: 200 Marks)

👉 Negative marking applies in all subjects.

 

💰 Application Fee

  • General: ₹1150
  • OBC-NCL/EWS: ₹600
  • SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: ₹325

 

💡 Fellowship & Benefits

  • JRF Stipend: ₹37,000/month for the first 2 years + ₹20,000 annual contingency grant.
  • SRF (after 2 years & evaluation): ₹42,000/month.
  • Fellowship is tenable in Universities, IITs, National Laboratories, R&D Institutions, and recognized private/public sector firms.

  5. Pay the application fee online (Net Banking/Debit/Credit/UPI).
